Rich Murray Journalism Scholarship
VaSID's Rich Murray Journalism Scholarship is presented annually to a Virginia high school student who excels in the area of sports journalism and is pursuing a college degree in journalism, communications, or a related field, preferably at an institution in Virginia.
A 1971 graduate of Washington and Lee University, Rich Murray served the profession for nearly 40 years at James Madison University and the University of Virginia. He retired on June 22, 2012.
Murray was a founding member of the Virginia Sports Information Directors in 1983 and served as the organization's inaugural President. Murray remained heavily involved in VaSID throughout his sports information career.
